OZ Pitch Day - June 19
How do you determine if a property is in an Opportunity Zone?
The most reliable and user-friendly way to determine if a property is in an Opportunity Zone is to use the Opportunity Zones Map by OpportunityZones.com.
If you own or are considering investing in a property, it’s essential to determine whether it is located within a Qualified Opportunity Zone. Being situated in a QOZ can make a property eligible for significant tax incentives when developed or improved through a Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF).
Where Are Qualified Opportunity Zones Located?
To determine the location of Opportunity Zones all across the country, use our OZ mapping tool.

This interactive map allows you to enter an address, and instantly see whether your property falls within an Opportunity Zone. The OpportunityZones.com map is widely considered the best available tool for Qualified Opportunity Zone identification.
Why Federal Government Maps Are No Longer Reliable
As of April 2025, the mapping tool on the Treasury Department’s CDFI website has been broken for several years. The official OZ map on the HUD website has also been broken for several years.
Initially, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s CDFI Fund and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provided official OZ mapping tools. But as of 2025, both of these resources have been non-functional for several years. Investors and developers have since relied on third-party tools, with OpportunityZones.com being among the most trusted and accurate.
Verifying Your Property’s Status
Once you identify that your property is located in a Qualified Opportunity Zone using the OpportunityZones.com map, it’s still a good idea to keep thorough records. These records may include screenshots, reference data, and census tract ID numbers. This is especially important if you plan to use this information for tax or investment purposes. While the map is highly accurate, you should consult with a tax professional to confirm your property’s eligibility. And finally, understand the implications of being located in an Opportunity Zone.
