SoLa Impact Plans South Los Angeles OZ Development

The SoLa Impact Opportunity Fund is planning to build an 84-unit multifamily development in Westmont, an unincorporated community in the South Los Angeles area. The project will include 21 units with permanent supportive and deed-restricted affordable housing.

The building at 11001 South Vermont Avenue will add to SoLa's portfolio of affordable housing projects in the South Los Angeles area. The company currently has more than 1,500 such units in the area.

SoLa founder and managing partner Martin Muoto discussed his firm's mission on Episode 88 of the Opportunity Zones Podcast last year:

The Architects Collective is designing the project. According to the project website, the units will make use of light-gauge steel frames in the modular construction design, and the ground floor of the development will include a community room, laundry room, and social service offices.

Construction is expected to start later this year and complete in 2023.
